
GISConneX, IMAGEM’s SAP and GIS integration software, was highlighted at the 3rd edition of the ESRI User Meeting for Utilities which took place May 11th and 12th in São Paulo. The event gathered approximately 150 representatives of country’s main Energy and Water/Wastewater companies. This event had international specialists from Imagem, ESRI, Telvent and SAP presenting their views and applications of GIS and ERP technology for the Utilities sector. Experts from companies such as AES Sul, Eletropaulo, Grupo Neoenergia, Cemig, Cesan, Chesf, Compesa, among others, were able to share best practices, establish contacts and get to know new and current trends in technology.
The SAP-GIS integration theme included several presentations at the event (refer to the agenda at http://www.img.com.br/utilities2010/programacao.html). One key presentation was a solution that optimizes the asset database maintenance process in GIS and SAP, attending to Aneel’s new regulatory demands for energy distribution companies in Brazil.
Successful cases were presented, respectively, by Sandra Heck, IT manager from AES-Sul, with regards to their project that integrates GIS Designer with SAP PS and Paulo de Tarso’s, AES Eletropaulo consultant, presentation regarding “SAP – ESRI Integration Project for optimization AES Eletropaulo’s management and operation system”, in which GIS integration is fundamental in complying to Aneel’s new demands.
Aneel was also present at this event, represented by the Specialist in Public Energy Service Regulation, Luciano Cheberle, who presented the new Prodist regulation which reinforced the need for utility companies to invest in SAP and GIS integration to comply to Aneel’s demands.
